Starting budgets use a six-traveller, twin-share planning basis. Season, party size, rooms, guide language and access affect the final written quote; no departure or seat availability is guaranteed.
Confirm transfers, licensed transport, guide, stays, meals, admissions, scenic transport and permit handling item by item. Only expressly agreed written inclusions are covered.
Flights, train fares, visas, insurance, single rooms, personal costs, tips, extra nights and itinerary changes are separate unless expressly included in the written quote.
Discuss preferred hotel levels in cities. Everest, Ngari and the northern plateau may require basic lodging or local hotels; confirm heating, hot water, private bathrooms and meal arrangements before departure.
Meet in Xining and check travel IDs, required Tibet documents, sleeper tickets and station meeting time. Depending on the confirmed service, stay in Xining or board that evening. Confirm train, berth category and meals in writing; a listed journey does not guarantee a ticket.
Rest on the train while the landscape changes across the plateau. Daylight views depend on the service and season; intermediate stops are not assumed to allow sightseeing. Transfer to a Lhasa hotel after arrival, shifting the itinerary if the confirmed train uses additional calendar time.
Visit the Potala Palace and Jokhang in the order allowed by reservations, then walk gently through Barkhor. Discuss pilgrimage customs and old-town life with your guide. Allow breaks on palace stairs and follow each site’s photography rules; visits may move between days.
Leave Lhasa for authorised Yamdrok viewpoints, continuing via the Karola corridor to Gyantse and Shigatse. Discuss a Pelkor Chode and Kumbum visit if opening hours allow. This is a long travel day; keep pass stops brief and take regular breaks.
Travel through the Tingri area to authorised Gawula viewpoints and the permitted Rongbuk/Everest visitor area. Mountain visibility depends on weather. The visitor area differs from expedition base camp; mountaineering access is not included. Confirm available basic accommodation and overnight altitude before booking.
Take a short morning view only if conditions allow, then return via Tingri to Shigatse. Allow breaks and avoid loading the long transfer with extra visits. Any Tashilhunpo visit depends on opening hours and arrival time.
Discuss Tashilhunpo if it was missed and time allows, then return to Lhasa by the approved route. Avoid a tight same-day onward connection after the drive. Confirm the final Lhasa night and next-day transfer in the quote.
